" We are all parts of his one body, and each of us has different work to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others."

Meet the Family

Simplice is from Togo Africa.  She
came to America with her husband and their children in 2001.  Her children’s names are Ayaoui, Wamokonzi (“Wamo”), Akossiwa, Mathilde, & Michael.

Their Story

We first heard about Simplice and her family from Taylor Heath (pictured in the middle)after she went to Simplice’s apartment desiring to make a friend.  When Taylor arrived, she learned that Simplice’s husband had left the family to go back to Africa, leaving Simplice to raise their kids by herself with only mattresses to sleep on, suitcases for their clothes and a few pieces of furniture.  We were surprised to hear about Simplice’s situation because she never complained or asked for any help at all!  We knew we had to do something to help this family.  When we told our congregation about the need, we (with the help of a dollar for dollar gift matching friend and another generous sponsor) raised over $5,000!

The rest, as they say, “is history.”  So it is with great pleasure that we share this story because it’s proof that love in action is what makes life beautiful and worth living!
